Tour Plan

1
Day 1 – Delhi to Varanasi, First Glimpse of the Ganga

You start your journey early from Delhi and travel to Varanasi by train or flight, depending on your schedule and budget. The moment you step out in Varanasi, the air feels different: busy, a bit chaotic, but deeply spiritual at the same time.

You meet your driver at the station or airport and drive to your hotel. After check‑in, you take some time to freshen up and rest. Many travellers like to eat a simple lunch at the hotel or a nearby restaurant before they step out for their first walk in the city.

By late afternoon, you start your introduction to Kashi. You walk through the lanes towards the Kashi Vishwanath corridor, where centuries‑old shops, small shrines, and the sound of temple bells welcome you. You take darshan at Kashi Vishwanath Temple and feel the powerful energy of one of the most important jyotirlingas in India. If time allows, you also visit nearby temples such as Annapurna Temple and Kal Bhairav Temple.

As the sun starts to soften, you walk or drive down to Dashashwamedh Ghat for the famous evening Ganga Aarti. You can watch it from the steps or book a boat and see the entire ceremony from the water. Priests hold large lamps, conch shells echo through the air, and the river glows with reflections of countless diyas. This moment usually becomes the first highlight of the trip.

After the aarti, you walk back through the lively streets, taste some local snacks if you wish, and return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Varanasi.

Day 2 – Varanasi Temples, Ghats and Optional Sarnath

On day two, you wake up early. If you like calm mornings, you head straight to the river for a sunrise boat ride. As the boat glides along the water, you watch the city slowly wake up: priests perform rituals, devotees take a holy dip, and the sky turns shades of orange and gold above the ghats.

After the boat ride, you return to the hotel for breakfast. Later, you continue your temple and city tour. Depending on your interest, you may visit:

  • Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir, where devotees come to seek strength and protection.
  • Tulsi Manas Mandir, which showcases beautiful verses from the Ramcharitmanas on its walls.
  • Durga Mandir and other important temples around the old city.

Many itineraries also include a visit to Banaras Hindu University and the Bharat Kala Bhavan museum or a drive across the river to Ramnagar Fort, which offers a different, old‑world view of Varanasi.

In the afternoon, you can choose an optional excursion to Sarnath, about 10 km from Varanasi. Here you visit Dhamek Stupa, Chaukhandi Stupa, and the museum, and you see where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon after enlightenment. Even if you focus mainly on Hindu pilgrimage, Sarnath adds a calm, green, and reflective half‑day to your schedule.

You return to Varanasi by evening. You may sit quietly at Assi Ghat, enjoy a simple meal, or go shopping for Banarasi silk sarees, stoles, and handicrafts in the local markets. Overnight stay in Varanasi.

Day 3 – Varanasi to Ayodhya, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi and Saryu Aarti

After breakfast, you check out and start your drive to Ayodhya. The distance usually takes around 4–6 hours by road, depending on the exact route and traffic. You pass through typical Uttar Pradesh countryside: fields, small towns, roadside dhabas, and local markets. The journey itself feels relaxed, especially when you break for tea and snacks.

You reach Ayodhya by afternoon and check into your hotel. After a short rest, you begin your darshan in the city that devotees know as the birthplace of Lord Rama.

Your first priority usually is the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir. The impressive temple complex draws huge crowds, so you follow the local guidelines, security checks, and entry routes. A guide or driver who knows the city well can help you navigate smoothly and save time. You take your time inside, offer prayers, and simply absorb the atmosphere that many devotees describe as emotional and uplifting.

Next, you visit Hanuman Garhi, a hilltop temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, where you climb the steps and enjoy views over the town. You may also visit Kanak Bhawan, a beautifully maintained temple associated with Lord Rama and Sita, known for its peaceful courtyard and intricate idols.

By evening, you head towards the Saryu River ghats for the Saryu Aarti. The ceremony feels more intimate than the Ganga Aarti but carries the same deep devotion. Lamps float on the river, priests chant mantras, and the entire riverfront glows in warm light. This aarti often becomes the most touching memory of Ayodhya for many travellers.

After the aarti, you walk back through the bazaar, maybe shop for prasad or small souvenirs, and then return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 – Ayodhya Sightseeing and Return to Delhi

Today you cover any remaining important temples and sights in Ayodhya before you head back towards Delhi. After breakfast and checkout, you may visit:

  • Dashrath Mahal, associated with the father of Lord Rama.
  • Treta Ke Thakur and other shrines that recall key episodes from the Ramayana.
  • Additional ghats and ashrams along the Saryu, if you want more quiet time by the water.

You enjoy a simple lunch and then proceed to the railway station or airport for your return journey to Delhi, depending on your chosen mode of travel. Your bags may look light, but most people return with a strong sense of peace and the feeling that, in four days, they touched two of the most sacred spiritual centres in India.
