Tour Plan

1
Day 1 – Delhi to Varanasi, Check‑in & Evening Ganga Aarti

You start from Delhi in the morning and travel to Varanasi by flight or express train, depending on your budget and convenience. On arrival, you meet your driver or representative and transfer to your hotel for check‑in and a short rest.

By late afternoon, you head out towards the ghats. Many travellers begin with a walk through the old lanes leading to Dashashwamedh or Assi Ghat, where small shops, tea stalls and shrines line the narrow streets. As the sun goes down, you take your place for the evening Ganga Aarti, either seated on the ghat steps or from a shared or private boat.

Priests perform synchronised rituals with lamps and incense, chants fill the air, and hundreds of diyas illuminate the river’s surface. Watching this ceremony in person becomes the first unforgettable moment of your trip. After the aarti, you walk back through the lively markets, try some local snacks if you wish, and return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Varanasi.

Day 2 – Sunrise Boat Ride, Temples & City Sightseeing

You wake up early on day two for a sunrise boat ride on the Ganga, one of the most iconic experiences in Varanasi. As your boat moves along the river, you see priests performing morning rituals, devotees bathing at the ghats and the first sunlight washing over the temples and steps.

After the boat ride, you return to the hotel for breakfast and a short break before starting your temple tour. Depending on your interests and time, you usually visit:

  • Kashi Vishwanath Temple, the spiritual heart of the city and one of the most revered Shiva temples in India.
  • Kal Bhairav Temple, where devotees traditionally seek permission before starting their stay in Kashi.
  • Annapurna Temple, dedicated to the goddess of food and nourishment, near Kashi Vishwanath.
  • Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir, Durga Kund Temple and Tulsi Manas Mandir, depending on how much time and energy you have.

Many 3‑day itineraries also include a drive through the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) campus, a visit to Bharat Mata Mandir, or a short stop at Ramnagar Fort across the river. You taste local favourites like kachori‑sabzi, jalebi, lassi and Banarasi paan during breaks, which adds to the charm of the day.

By evening, you can either relax at Assi Ghat and watch another smaller aarti or wander through the old markets to shop for silk sarees, stoles and handicrafts. Overnight stay in Varanasi.

Day 3 – Sarnath (Optional) & Departure to Delhi

On the final day, you can keep your schedule relaxed or add a half‑day trip to Sarnath, about 10 km from Varanasi. Sarnath is the place where Lord Buddha is believed to have delivered his first sermon after enlightenment, and it offers a calm, green contrast to the busy streets of Varanasi.

In Sarnath, you visit sites such as Dhamek Stupa, Chaukhandi Stupa and the archaeological museum, and you walk among peaceful ruins and monasteries. If you prefer, you can skip Sarnath and instead spend the morning strolling along the ghats, revisiting a favourite temple, or simply sitting by the river before your journey.

Around midday or early afternoon, you return to your hotel, check out and transfer to the airport or railway station for your onward journey back to Delhi. You reach home with your mind full of images of the Ganga, the aarti lamps and the timeless lanes of Kashi.
